20/11/2013 - Hoi An to Quang Ngai

No pics at all from today which says more than a thousand words. We hit the AH1/QL1 again and didn't get off it all day. Earblasted by horns, skinblasted by thrown grit and sunblasted by - well, sun. Not too much of a fun ride but we still knocked out 120km en route to our not-yet-booked hotel in a town we knew nothing about. On the way in to the town a very friendly gentelman on a moped passed and waved just like they all do but hung around me for a while. At first I wanted to get rid of him as we both were not in the best moods after the testing day on the crappest road ever but he spoke really good English and was from the area so turned out to be a mine of information about the town. We rode side-by-side all the way into the town whilst he ignored the other traffic and let it all pile up behind. I bid him farewell as I stopped at a big roundabout on the way onto town to let Johanna catch up and marvelled at the length of his mole hairs as he wafted off into the evening. They do like to grow them long over here. Bloody nice chap.

We had an idea of a hotel that we had routed to but the friendly man had suggested another. We tried our first choice first and it was expensive - 700,000d so about £20. Then we got some directions and headed to our man's choice which was basically the same looking hotel for 250,000d. Winner.

We had dinner in a restaurant that our saviour of the day suggested as well. A long walk but worth it. It was like walking into somebody's house and they cooked like we were the guests too.

Randomly on the way back we watched a school of LED-lit mini cyclos of kids carrying on in the neatly segmented 5-feet square roads around a monument like it was a training ground for pedicabs. Except they crashed a lot. Hard to explain.

Then sleepy time.
